i miss laundromats

just thought i'd let y'all know. here, they only have places where you go drop off your laundry and then come back for it the next day, which i don't like because it takes so long and i don't know if they sort the lights from the darks. anyway, here are some photos for you.

a big old tree in el parque central

el parque central

like how half the building is yellow and the other half isn't?

a very common security measure... broken glass cemented on top of really big walls. this one i can see out my window.

sorry it's sideways... that's the language school, my classroom was on the fourth floor balcony

some pretty not rain clouds

why does the gallo beer factory have a pool, you ask? i ask that too, and all anyone tells me is because they have a lot of money. so there you go.

this one's for you, mom... it's gang tag about 3 houses down from mine. google it if you want to know more about it. don't worry though, i live in a safe neighborhood.

another view of xela from my classroom. i was going to climb that volcano, but decided to go shopping instead. i think it was a good choice.

some rooftops as seen from my classroom

a view of xela from my "classroom", which is a fancy word for balcony with a table

notice the sign that says "bimbo"? that's the guatemalan word for wonderbread.

here's how the back of the money looks. why don't dollars have nice color pictures of children? hmm?
